Domestic Doxology is a collection of songs that Molly wrote over the course of five years which were steeped in mothering littles. These songs are about the (hidden) treasure of mothering, the beautiful, simple faith of a child, and the quest for contentment.

TRACK 1

Laying Up Treasures

I love this song. The first thing that came to me was the hook and melody “You are laying up treasures in heaven, you are laying up treasures in heaven, etc.” and then the bouncy verse melody followed. I need to hear the truths of this song every single day; I hope others who are pouring out for the children in their lives are encouraged to “not grow weary” but to trust that the harvest of fruit from all the loving seeds they’ve sown is surely coming soon.

Shades of Green

Some songs are born from years of layered memories, and Shades of Green is one of them. It began with a quiet night under the stars, holding our week-old son and reflecting on “faith like a child.” Years later, when that same child confessed from his car seat that believing in God was sometimes hard, the two moments converged. Out of that tension between innocence and doubt came the heart of this song.

Just What I Need

Just What I Need was born in a Whole Foods parking lot, where frustration over overpriced apples turned into a prayer. Back at the piano, the playful chorus—“Give me just what I need, Lord. Give me no less and no more.”—captured both humor and honesty. With the classic Peace Like a River woven in, the song became a joyful reminder that contentment brings peace.
